Yakuruna Water Healing Tapestry
Hand-embroidered over many months by Shipibo mothers in the Peruvian Amazon, this tapestry is a woven prayer of water and plant medicine. Two opposing quadrants feature the precise kené geometry that maps ancestral ícaros, while the other two depict yakuruna water spirits in eel-like form, their scale-like stitches reflecting the river’s cleansing currents.
At the centre, a double-bordered medallion contains the spirits of plant medicine, rendered through paired leaf motifs. Four concentric border bands in yellow, pink, green, and blue frame the design, marking the boundary of its sacred field.
This beautiful tapestry is rich in culture and metaphor. As a gift to yourself or another, this artwork is shipped directly from the Shipibo family in the Amazon who created it.
